  • East Asheville (Oteen and east of the VA Hospital)

  • Swannanoa

  • Black Mountain

  • Montreat

  • Ridgecrest

Do you live in our service area, or aren’t sure?

Do you live outside of our service area?

Please call 2-1-1 or visit nc211.org to find your local food pantry.

Residents of Buncombe County can also consult this list of Community Resources!

SVCM offers a “neighbor choice” food pantry where neighbors can come in every 21 days and shop for items of their choice.

Our food pantry offers:

  • Shelf-stable pantry items

  • Fresh produce

  • Meat

  • Dairy

  • Frozen items

  • Basic personal care items like toothbrushes and toothpaste, soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc.

  • Dog and cat food

Neighbors can also check once a week to see if additional free produce is available. Visit Bounty and Soul's Produce Distribution Schedule here.

SVCM distributes TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program) to all eligible neighbors. Neighbors can receive TEFAP even if they do not meet the other eligibility requirements for other programs.

TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program) is American-grown food given to supplement the diets of low-income people. To participate one must provide name, household size, either receive FNS benefits or qualify by income. All information is self-declared, kept confidential, and won't be shared. No proof of ID, income or residency are required to receive TEFAP.

Clothing Closet

Neighbors can come every 21 days to choose a limited number of items for each person in their household.

Our Clothing Closet offers:

  • Men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing

  • Shoes

  • Sheets (every 6 months)

  • Towels (every 6 months)

  • Blankets (every 6 months)

  • Plates, bowls & glasses

  • Silverware

  • Basic kitchen utensils

  • Small kitchen appliances

  • Fans

If you have clothes, food, household items, or linens you would like to donate:

Please check our Donations page for an up-to-date list of items we need.

Please only drop off items during our open hours 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Monday - Friday. Clothing or food left out overnight may get dirty or eaten by animals. To drop off, go to 101 N. Ridgeway Ave in Black Mountain and go to the right of the building where there is a drop off door. Volunteers will be happy to provide you with a tax receipt. Thank you so much for your donations - they make a difference in the lives of our neighbors in need!

Firewood

Thanks to the hard work of many volunteers, SVCM brings firewood to those who use it to heat their homes in the winter. For more information, or to get on our delivery list, call (828) 669-9404.
