Food Pantry and Clothes Closet
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, we have implemented a drive-up system for client's and volunteer's safety. Please call when you arrive at the ministry to be served at 828-669-9404.
SVCM offers a “client choice” food pantry where clients call and a volunteer or staff member takes their food order from the list of available food items. Clients can come every 21 days for food. Clients can check once a week to see if free produce is available. Visit Bounty and Soul's Produce Distribution Schedule here.
SVCM distributes TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program) to all eligible clients. Neighbors can receive TEFAP even if they do not meet the other eligibility requirements for other programs. |
TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program) is American-grown food given to supplement the diets of low-income people. To participate one must provide name, household size, either receive FNS benefits or qualify by income. All information is self-declared, kept confidential, and won't be shared. No proof of ID, income or residency are required to receive TEFAP.
Our Clothes Closet has men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing as well as shoes. Clients can come every 21 days to choose a limited number of each item for every person in the household. We also have sheets, towels, and blankets which clients are eligible for every 6 months. There are also household items such as plates, bowls, glasses, silverware and basic kitchen utensils and small appliances.
