Please bring these materials to your intake appointment
If you're seeking financial assistance with a bill, rent, or mortgage payment please bring the following:
- East Asheville (Oteen and east of the VA Hospital)
- Swannanoa
- Black Mountain
- Montreat
- Ridgecrest
Please bring these materials to your intake appointment
- Social Security number for all members of the household (bring SS cards for all)
- Photo ID
- Any information on household income, including copies of check stubs or unemployment benefits
If you're seeking financial assistance with a bill, rent, or mortgage payment please bring the following:
- Late or eviction notice including amount due plus late fees with landlord's name and phone number.
- For utilities bring bill with disconnect date within 5 days.

- Food - Every 21 days
- Clothing - Every 60 days
- Linens and Home Goods - Every 6 months
Neighbors can receive TEFAP even if they do not meet the other eligibility requirements for other programs. TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program) is American-grown food given to supplement the diets of low-income people. To participate one must provide name, household size, either receive FNS benefits or qualify by income. All information is self-declared, kept confidential, and won't be shared. No proof of ID, income or residency are required to receive TEFAP.
